Q: How do I create a character?

Simply select an empty cell (you are given 12) and click the “Create” button.

Q: What characteristics should I specify for my starting character?

Characteristics are selected depending on which class you are going to choose. Deciding on a class beforehand is the best way to plan your character's development (characteristics and skills).

Q: My novice's job level has stopped at level 10, why?

At this point in the game, basic training is complete. Novices can become one of the many classes available in the game. You can get the next profession from the Job Master located in the Prontera's_Office.

Q: Which class is the best?

Each class is different in its own way. Some are more useful in battles with monsters, while others, on the other hand, are used more for battles with other players or in Guild Wars. Some are useful in almost all situations; these are usually the most popular classes.

Q: I'm level X, where do I go to “farm”?

In general, there aren't any specific “good” places to “farming”. However, a polite question to an experienced player is a good starting point. The areas of “farming” depend on class, skills, characteristics and equipment.

Q: Why did the monster attack me even though I didn't attack it?

Q: Can I get a stats or skill reset?

Yes, there are several methods for resetting stats and skills. You can do it directly in the game itself, from the Job Master, but he will have requirements for you to do so. There are also special items that you can get for logging into the game daily, purchase from the Kafra Shop or the Voting Shop.

Q: Can I change my character's name without remaking it?

Using a special ticket from the Kafra Shop, you can rename any character, provided the new name is not used by anyone else in the game.

Etiquette and rules

Q: I see characters that move as if on their own without reacting. What is this and what should I do?

There is a possibility that this is a bot; a program used by players to automate level “upgrade” or other actions. Note that sometimes these people are just busy or unable to talk. If you suspect that it is a bot after all, please contact the Server Administration or Support team to report a rule violation. You can learn more about the rules of our game here.

Q: How do I deal with annoying players?

First of all, there is the /notalkmsg command, which allows you to completely block all incoming messages in your chat window. If someone specific sends private messages that you don't want to see, you can block them with the command /ex <character name> . The best solution for dealing with “trolls” is to simply ignore them.

Q: Someone is persistently asking for money/items. How do I respond?

At first politely decline, but if the problem escalates you can report them. There is a /notrade command to automatically refuse trades if they are constantly requesting trades.

Q: What's the best way to get people's attention?

Greet them and speak to them politely. Respect the needs of others to engage in other activities. To request a Heal or “Blessing and increase AGI” ask once or twice. There are many reasons why people don't respond. In general, be polite and avoid being demanding. As with all online etiquette, avoid speaking in capital letters, swearing, or being demanding. The game also features a #main channel that all New Style RO players can see.

Q: Why do “delays” occur during the game?

A good connection between client and server depends on the Internet Service Provider (ISP). With a good ISP, “delays” are minimal. Sometimes the server will “hang”. In this case, others will also experience the same thing. Often “latency” problems can be caused by server problems between the user and the New Style RO server. Using programs such as Tracert can help determine the cause of the “latency”. With some hardware and ISP combinations, heavy downloading from other users on the connection will cause unacceptable “latency” - this will show up in Tracert as a high ping time on the first or second “hop”. In this case, performance can be improved by ensuring that no one using the connection is using “peer-to-peer” file sharing programs. Another possible cause of delay is the user's computer. This could be due to insufficient hardware for acceptable performance, other programs running in the background, or malware problems. In these cases, performance can be improved by closing all other open programs, checking that there are no malware programs on the computer, and playing around with some graphics options disabled (lighting map, fog, effects).

Q: My character is stuck. What do I do?

If you can load the character window, but you are stuck in a place you can't get out of, using Fly or Butterfly wings will solve the problem. Sometimes the character has errors and does not load completely (for example, items are not displayed). Sometimes reconnecting to the server and restarting and/or waiting a few minutes will solve the problem. Q: Help! I constantly get the message “Failed to connect to the server”!

This problem is usually caused by a faulty connection between the client and the game server. First, make sure that the Internet is available and that all software firewalls are configured to allow RO access to the Internet. If the problem persists, the server may be down or there may be server problems between the user and the New Style server. Try again later and check the server status on sites such as this one.
